God has placed you in your neighborhood for a reason, and as Christians we are called to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39). Take these simple steps to get to know and love your neighbors. How this helps: Here are seven simple ways you can share God’s love with your neighbors.
Say hello as you walk along your block or work in your yard.
Be intentional about spending time where you can interact with neighbors. Put chairs in front of your house instead of the back.
Introduce yourself, share information, and ask questions of those in your neighborhood.
Gather contact info about those on your block or the floor of your apartment building and ask permission to share the list with those also living nearby to help connect people.
Be the neighbor who offers to give help to others. Also be willing to ask for help when you need it, as that can break down barriers.
Consider what makes your neighborhood unique and how you can serve your neighbors in thoughtful ways.
Observe and pray for your neighbors, even if you don’t know them well. Ask God to reveal specific neighbors for whom you can start praying.
